"I doubt that biographer Doris Kearns Goodwin or historian David McCullough would have produced a work as touching or as provocative to those of us involved in the various debates of the world of the modern pipe organ. This book is a great read, and I recommend it highly -- simply reading the Table of Contents tells you that you are in for a great ride."

"Miscellanea Organica," by John Bishop, The American Organist, February 2002

Richard Torrence and Marshall Yaeger continue to dazzle with their awesome capacities just when you think they have reached their zenith.... I cannot yet fully codify the enormity and emotion in my reactions to reading this book.

Steve Adams

I just couldn't put it down until I finished it. What a wonderful and humorous chronicle of one of the world's greatest performers of the organ.... Virgil, I'm sure, would be proud!

Andy Antonczyk

Oh, what fun! Heaps of praises upon all involved.

Michael Barone

I love it! I think this book is GREAT, and I'd gladly pass it on to any number of my friends.

I read the first 120 pages right away Wednesday night and must say how impressed I am with the editing job you two have done. I know what the original manuscript looked like(!) and I'm amazed at how you've turned that florid, rambling, stream of consciousness, unpunctuated, amorphous text into structured, coherent, and attention-holding stories. Those who haven't seen the original text can't begin to appreciate what an amazing job you've done with it. And the way you integrated the contributions of other writers into Ted's narrative is, as they say, a stroke of genius. I stand in awe of your craftsmanship and tenacity in seeing this project through and your courage and integrity in telling it like it was. You both have my thanks and admiration, and I'm sure that of everyone who will read the book.

Dennis Block (Contributor—typed 1/3 of the manuscript)

It just arrived two days ago. The first 100 pages have exceeded my most hopeful expectations. Ted's narrative, as adapted, is an engrossing and very entertaining read about the genius that was Virgil Fox.

Such a grand buffet of delicious memories, musical insights and personal reflections, the reader will savor the marvels of the multiple textures of a rich, genius musical life! This new biography of the flamboyant chef of sound will whet the appetite of creative minds and curious hearts everywhere.

The book is an absolute delight! I can't put it down!!

Terry Freeman

Opened it, read some scattered pages & will thoroughly enjoy this item several times over. This book is a wonderful tribute to one of God's Gifts.

This was truly worth the wait. I received my book yesterday, and I am impressed - an excellent looking book as well as fascinating pictures and stories. I have only had the time to skim through (It's over 400 pages!) but what I have read so far is fascinating. Kudos to the Virgil Fox Society and Torrence and Yaeger for what appears to be a true labor of love!

Will Jackson

It is a great book and a great tribute to Virgil. I'm going to put my book up for sale on E-bay and the first person who is willing to pay me $10,000 gets it.

Karl Keller

This is a book that HAD to be written and made available, but could ONLY have been done by the "magic three" - Teddy, you, and Marshall - given the rough manuscript produced by Teddy, your superb organizational skills, and Marshall's gifted, gifted writing talent. Kudos already!

Alan Langord (mentioned in the book)

I love it and realize that it is my life in review in the first 100 pages!!!

Steve Loher

I couldn't put it down. I read it in two nights. What a marvelous memoir of a great man and musician!

(Rev.) Vincent P. Long

Thanks to ALL who made this book possible! WOW!!! What a read!!! I am so privileged to be able to read this book with all the wonderful accounts, photos & remembrances! I read the entire book yesterday & I only received it yesterday! I have a greater love & respect for Virgil & those he knew because of this book! THANK YOU ALL FOR SUCH A GREAT BOOK! You are wonderful!!!

Trisha Longo

Well, folks, it arrived today. You should be very proud of yourselves for such a wonderful job! I am already hoarse from screaming at just a bit of the funny stuff that's in there.

T. Ernest Nichols (a contributor)

II read it in two sittings...and I laughed out loud, screamed, cried, and laughed again throughout. Marshall, I can't imagine how you managed to organize, collate, edit, enhance, clarify, and define Ted's manuscript so brilliantly that his voice could be heard from beginning to end.... The preface was as moving as the book and, while some might be shocked or even appalled at what they learn, I think the "no holes barred" approach gives the reader deep insight into the motivating forces behind two giant lives lived to their fullest. That each man's career was, ultimately, compromised somewhat by love is, for me, a lovely testament to their basic humanity, warts and all.... Thank you from the bottom of my heart for capturing in words all the import, influence, outrageousness, fun and example both Virgil and Ted brought to my young life.

Walter Peterson

I got so absorbed in, .and fascinated by, this book that at times I found it hard to stop reading. It's a FABULOUS work.

Melvin Potts

I, too, have received my copy of the new Fox biography, and in just over twenty-four hours have managed to read over 100 pages. It is absolutely fascinating, and I want to take this opportunity to congratulate...all of the contributors for making this such a wonderful tribute.

Matt Rhodes

My copy of "Virgil Fox" arrived Friday. I think it's a dirty trick to have it delivered just before the weekend. Who knows how many of us [organists] stayed up too late reading every word when we should be practicing for Sabbath services? Seriously, you have done a magnificent job of turning Ted Alan Worth's efforts into a fascinating and beautifully-produced masterpiece.

Dave Schutt

Am enjoying the read tremendously. Thank you for the incredible effort that went into such a monumental work. It is elegant (thanks in no small part to Len's design work) and even at 400+ pages there is not a bit of wasted space.

Ken Sybesma

I have not put down the book since it arrived the other day. A monumental piece of excellent work! Love reading through it.... A truly wonderful tribute to indeed the greatest organist of our time!!

Ross Stretton

A friend called me yesterday to tell me about his experience reading the book. He said that he hooted and hollered, laughed and cried, spent the day reading and playing Virgil's old recordings while...longing to become an organist again.

Brian T. Swager

My book arrived yesterday! I was up till 2:00 in the morning reading it. I just could not put it down, and I'm only on page 57. There are photos and stories never before heard. Any true-blue Fox fan MUST have this book...!
